Apply for Approval as a Practicum Supervisor

This sounds like a great opportunity. How do I get started?

If you meet the criteria outlined and you would like to be considered as a practicum Supervisor for GCAP students (or for a specific GCAP student), please complete the following steps. Applying for pre-approval in no way obligates you to take on supervision of a practicum student.

All practicum information is managed through our web-based Practicum Information Management System [PIMS]. Please carefully review the technical information for using PIMS before you complete your application.

Complete the practicum supervisor approval form through PIMS. If you have difficulty accessing or using this form, please email gcapghelp@athabascau.ca.

Please note: If the organization you work for does not appear on the list of approved organizations on this form, please follow the steps to obtain practicum organization approval before completing the supervisor approval process. Please allow five (5) working days for the organizational approval to be completed and the organization to be added to the list before submitting the practicum supervisor approval form. Once the organization has been approved, it will appear on the drop down menu on your application form (click on image to view larger).

We also require submission of an electronic version of your curriculum vitae for review. Please send the CV in Word, RTF, JPEG, or PDF format to the Practicum Coordinator gcappracticumcoord@athabascau.ca.

You will be contacted by email once your application has been reviewed and will be provided with a log in ID and password to the internal pages on this website. Please save this email for future reference and use the link supplied in the email to login to the Supervisor view of the GCAP website. You will then be able to access all the information you require to work with a specific student to set up a practicum placement. You are given the option in your application to elect to have your name and contact information posted on our internal website so that interested GCAP students may contact you directly.
