Athabasca University

Post-LPN Bachelor of Nursing

This unique program offers a broad liberal university education designed specifically for the licensed practical nurse. As you continue working in your field, you can remain in your community and complete your baccalaureate nursing theory courses in our flexible learning environment.

All of the non-nursing, required, support and option theory courses are completed by distance education through a combination of print and online resources, or print only.

As a student in the Post-LPN Bachelor of Nursing Degree Program, you will work to achieve the program learning outcomes, enhance your critical thinking skills, explore concepts and theories in nursing practice, and integrate theory and skills related to family and community health promotion, among other areas.

Graduates are eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination – Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN) and to apply for registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. If you plan to practice in a jurisdiction other than Alberta following completion of this program, please contact the regulatory body in that jurisdiction, before applying to this program, to determine acceptance of the program when seeking a temporary practice permit and active registration as a registered nurse.

Whether you are a new or current student at Athabasca University, you will find some helpful information in the left-hand navigation column. When you require additional information about this program, you will find the appropriate contact information under New Students or Current Students.

Please review the Post-LPN Bachelor of Nursing program regulations and admission requirements.
